Meet Rick Adams

Rick believes government should serve all Kentuckians. He has argued in courthouses across the Commonwealth defending our civil rights against an overbearing legislature and fighting to maintain transparent government and fair elections.

He is young, but Rick has spent years serving his community. After graduating from Centre College, Rick attended the University of Louisville’s Brandeis School of Law and graduated magna cum laude. He clerked for a federal judge in the Western District of Kentucky, where he witnessed firsthand the impact the laws passed by legislatures have on real people.

After his clerkship, Rick joined the Louisville law firm Kaplan, Johnson, Abate & Bird. There, he has been part of the legal team that has taken on some of Kentucky’s most important constitutional litigation.

  • Defending Louisville’s Fairness Ordinance when it was attacked by the Alliance Defending Freedom;

  • Fighting the Republican majority when it passed unfair, gerrymandered legislative maps; and

  • Suing government agencies to enforce Kentucky’s Open Records Act.

Rick also serves as the Deputy General Counsel to the Kentucky Democratic Party.

Rick’s experience has prepared him to serve in the General Assembly. But this campaign to represent District 41 is not about him; it is about building a Kentucky that works for all of us, not just the privileged few.

Rick lives in Deer Park with his wonderful wife Emma.
